展覽簡介 Exhibition Introduction

2010年夏天，台北當代藝術館以「青春崇拜」影展，在捷運中山站地下街開啟了台灣獨立製片影展的序幕，之後兩年的暑假，「青春扛拜」和「青春澎湃」影展陸續上檔，並開始受到社會的關注與肯定，在這同時，當代館也在2011年中帶著十餘部青春影展的作品到義大利著名山城Asolo參展受到好評，這些成功的經驗，逐步奠定了當代館和這個青春主題影展一年一度的緊密合作關係。

MOCA, Taipei launched the “Young Pursuing Film Festival” at the Zhongshan Underground Metro Mall in the summer of 2010. Since then, with great recognition from the public, this Taiwan independent film festival has continued and presented in the following two years with “Cheers, Youth! Film Festival” and “Young Pop-Eye Film Festival.” In 2011, MOCA, Taipei also successfully introduced more than ten films from the festival to the renowned Asolo Film Festival in Italy. Devoted Endeavors throughout the years have further strengthened MOCA, Taipei’s close collaboration with this annual youth film festival.

2013年的青春影展，以「夢想方興，青春未艾」為主題和策劃主軸，探討當代青年的夢想、渴望、及情緒反映—不論這些動力是來自於親情、友情、愛情或有關於未來與抉擇的課題。俗語說:「有夢最美，希望相隨」，讓青春未艾的夢想變成實質的成就，是否只要有情感的熱力和實踐的動力，就能夠使它發芽、成長及茁壯? 或者，有些難免因為受限於外在現實的因素而產生無奈、頹然消盡的惆悵？可以確定的是，夢想伴隨著青春成長，滋味甜美或苦澀，都是值得反覆回味的經驗，而無論最終的結果是成是敗，所有的夢想終將烙印出青春年譜最具色彩的一塊拼圖，並在整體生命中佔有難以抹滅的重要性。

The “2013 Young Wild-Eye Film Festival” is based on the theme: “as dreams continue to rise, youth will forever remain.” The purpose of the theme is to investigate the dreams, desires, and emotions of today’s youths, and also to look at the motivational drives behind these subjects, such as family, friendship, love, and also issues relating to one’s future and decisions that need to be made. The popular saying in Taiwan goes like this: “hope comes after the most beautiful dreams”; yet, in order to realize youthful dreams into tangible achievements, are passion and action enough for dreams to blossom and grow? Or, perhaps life’s harsh realities are unavoidable at times and so are emotions of helplessness and melancholy. However, what’s certain is that dreams and youths are interconnected, and the sense of bitter sweetness makes the experience worthy of being savored. Regardless of whether the outcome is a success or failure, the dreams that one holds dearly will become the mostly vibrant and lively piece of the puzzle that forms a persons’ youthful years, and it is an irreplaceable vital section in one’s life as a whole.

本次影展，策展人黃米露精選了35部台灣獨立製片電影，於當代館的「地下實驗‧創意秀場」分成【青春未艾】及【夢想方興】兩大主題對照區，其中每個主題區又各自分成四個系列接力放映，歷時五十天的影展除了內容豐富表現多元之外，整個展場的空間環境也延續往年特色凸顯青春的視聽氣息，今年再次邀請新秀插畫家57以現場彩繪創作來詮釋「青春未艾」主題，同時也委託熊寶貝樂團特別為本屆影展編創主題曲「簡單」。

35 independent films from Taiwan have been selected by Milu Huang, the curator of this year’s film festival, for presentation in MOCA Studio Underground. The films are then divided into two contrasting themes of “Young Wild Eye” and “On the Rise,” with each section further categorized into four sub-series to be played continuously. The 50-day long film festival consists of rich contents and diverse expressions, and the spatial setting of the venue extends from the previous years’ focus on youthfulness through audio-visual features. Additionally, for this year, the venue is also adorned with site specific drawings, created by emerging illustrator 57, based on the theme of “Young Wild Eye.” The theme song, titled “Simplicity” is created by the band, BearBabes, for film festival this year.

2013年的炎炎盛夏，這些精采的青春影像作品聯袂於台北、台中兩地熱情上映，真誠的述說著那些青春和夢想的悸動；期盼觀眾透過當代影像創作者的鏡頭和故事，去領略它的多采多姿面貌和無懼無畏性格，以及這些影像為青春留下的永恆印記。

In the heated summer of 2013, these exciting youthful films will be presented in both Taipei and Taichung. They tell the stories of youthfulness and dreams in the hope that through these films made by contemporary film makers, the viewers could experience their diverse vitality and courageous boldness so that these films become a tribute to youth and leave a permanent imprint in life.

我們可以擁有青春多久？！該如何去丈量青春的長度？才能預測它將會在哪個時機點離我們而去？這是此次「青春未艾」影展，希望提供民眾觀賞進而探討思索的問題。在青春時期，很多事情都是壁壘分明的對立以及拉扯，血氣方剛的靈魂，因此在生命中找尋希望，在希望中找尋出口，在出口處打撈夢想，在夢想中學習付出與受傷，用勇氣去面對真實的自己，在思念中體會失去並學會珍惜。本屆青春影展的作品，各自透過這些不同要點讓我們明白，唯有創造的想像才能突破時間的限制，將我們最珍貴的東西永遠留住！到底能擁有青春多久？相信只要夢想不滅，青春將如鑽石般永恆璀璨在我們的生命裡啊！
