島嶼‧他方—台港水墨的地景建構（下）

台灣的山水畫科在政治權力的更迭、文藝思潮的變換等因素下，歷經渡海文人山水、現代水墨抽象山水、鄉土寫實山水、新文人畫的改變，產生不一樣的風貌。此次由白適銘教授策劃的「島嶼‧他方—台港水墨的地景建構」，邀請到分屬不同年代、異質形式創作的夏一夫、蔡海鷹、袁慧莉、吳觀麟、吳繼濤、管偉邦、柯偉國、陳鏡田等藝術家作品，藉此提問傳統中原主體觀看、論述、繪製山水的方式，是否能真正宜時、宜地適用於當代的台、港藝壇。

夏一夫以反覆連綿的筆法開創出有別以往的新風格，蔡海鷹善以各式現代性物料融鑄成自然景觀的表達，袁慧莉有意識以陰性姿態拆解傳統繪畫的佈局，吳觀麟透過不同技法實驗出富具特色的山石肌理，吳繼濤藉自然環境之間的圖像寓言翻騰出駭世的轉變，管偉邦在含蓄內斂的筆法中另闢山景外的波瀾視界，柯偉國以一反傳統的盤根錯節指涉生態之間的共生關係，陳鏡田融如同開片的設計元素成為古代山水圖像與現代生活的平衡點。

從山水到地景，傳統對於台灣藝術的地方色論述，如今是否能不假借中原傳統、西方理論，而由本土自發性開創、彰顯後自成一幟，或許成為當代所值得深思的問題。藉由島嶼色彩的建構，大觀藝術空間的此次展覽或許亦提供形塑台灣關鍵詞一種方向之可能。

The Islands and Other Places – The geographical structure of ink art from Taiwan and Hong Kong Part II

Taiwanese landscape paintings have changed dramatically due to the change of political climate and cultural developments. From the literati paintings of the Shanghai School, the abstract landscapes of Modern Ink Art, Domestic Realist Landscapes, to New Literati Paintings, one could see the change in the artistic style of the artists. Curated by Professor Pai Shih-Ming, the exhibition “The Islands and Other Places – The geographical structure of ink art from Taiwan and Hong Kong” brings together artists with different background and artistic styles, presenting different view points on landscape ink art and whether or not the medium is still appropriate for the contemporary societies in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Participating artists include Hsia Yifu, Choi Hoi Ying, Yuan Hui-Li, Ng Kwun Lun, Wu Chi-Tao, Koon Wai Bong, Ke Wei-Kuo, Chan Keng Tin.

Xia Yifu’s endless brushworks created a brand new style in the representation of mountains and water; Choi Hoi Ying is an expert in the combination of contemporary everyday objects with natural sceneries; Yuan Hui-Li breaks away from traditional compositions with from a female angle; Ng Kwun Lun experiments on the unique textures of rocks with mastery techniques; Wu Chi-tao presents the theatrical changes in the society with images taken from nature; Koon Wai Bong creates a world away from the reality with his elegant brushes; Ke Wei-Kuo emphasis on the beauty and complexity of nature with his detail-orientated brush works, whilst Chan Keng Tin finds the perfect balance between conventional landscape paintings and contemporary life with his strong design elements.

From landscape paintings to geological studies, the question whether contemporary art in Taiwan could learn from the traditional Taiwanese art, the influences from mainland China and western art, and create a unique style that is distinctively Taiwanese, it is something that one must consider in depth. Through this exhibition, Daguan Gallery would like to explore the endless possibilities for Taiwanese ink art.
