小龍飛天：蛇年好風景－徐揚聰創作展

2010年在當代館的統籌策劃下，「中山遊藝‧當代文創聚落」於捷運中山站地下書街快樂誕生，這個旨在結合藝術展覽、藝術教育與生活美學、文創設計、街區活化、與社區營造等多種活動內容的聚落空間，第一年的運作就得到各界的贊揚與認同，並因此從2011年起獲得文化部「輔導核心創作及獨立工作者進駐文化創意聚落」專案補助的加持。除了做為青年藝術家與文創新秀展示與競藝的夢想基地，這個文創聚落也已成為台北市民自在悠遊體驗當代藝術的一個獨特場域。當代館為推動多元的文化價值和多樣的藝術美學，常年度策劃不同的文創主題展覽活動、藝術美學工作坊，透過讓社區民眾和社會大眾日常融入與積極參與的方式，將當代生活美學與文化創意的訊息主動傳遞到美術館外的各個公共空間。

今年當代館延續「中山遊藝‧當代文創聚落」的實驗創新和社會化精神，選在農曆蛇年新春期間，特邀藝術家徐揚聰以喜氣盎然的「小龍飛天」空間裝置，為文創聚落區揭開2013新春的序幕。徐揚聰早年留學義大利，獲得米蘭美術學院雕塑碩士學位，返國後曾獲北美館現代雕塑雙年展大獎及典藏榮譽，並多次應邀於國內各大美術館、台北漢雅軒等舉行展覽。近年來他融合雕塑造形與空間裝置的創作，大膽告別了學院與傳統的材料應用、技法表現和形式思維，在台灣常民文化的基礎上另闢新徑，當他的作品及展覽出現在公共空間時，特別能帶給台灣觀眾一種既熟悉親切又新奇驚艷的喜悅。

徐揚聰這一次的「小龍飛天」空間裝置展，以台灣常民生活中隨處可見的塑膠器皿為創作材料，透過創意巧思和獨特的工藝手法，創造出了另類的山石地景及可愛的動物造型如小狗、小龍或鳥類，以及美觀而實用的燈具或座椅等，這些作品元件的組合，為蛇年的中山地下街當代文創聚落區，營造出一種色彩鮮豔活潑、光影繽紛迷人的時空氛圍，新春期間進入當代文創聚落，也彷彿來到一個讓我們重新注視和省思塑膠文明和消費文化的夢幻國度。

這次的「小龍飛天：蛇年好風景」展的視覺意象，將串連呈現到台北當代藝術館廣場花台的「意外的風景Ⅰ」、售票大廳的「好坐‧疊疊樂」，同時，當代館也邀請藝術家以工作坊的形式帶領光能里居民創作庭園燈，工作坊成果將於中山地下街R9出口公開展出，以「天天過節、日日點燈」的概念體現社區居民的集體創作，為台北都會開創另一種美麗風景。

Under the planning of MOCA Taipei, “Contemporary Community of Creative Design” was joyfully launched at the Zhongshan Metro Mall in 2010. Its mission is to integrate artistic exhibitions, education, lifestyle aesthetics, creative designs, neighborhood activism and community building all within a communal space. The space received tremendous feedbacks and recognitions during its first year of operation, and since 2011, it has been supported by the Ministry of Culture’s project subsidization for the “Creative Core and Independent Talent Support at the Contemporary Community of Creative Design.” In addition to being a headquarter for showcasing works by young artists and creative designers, the Contemporary Community of Creative Design has also become a unique arena for people of Taipei to leisurely engage in contemporary art. In order to promote diverse cultural values and artistic aestheticism, MOCA Taipei regularly organizes exhibitions, events, and workshops of different creative themes. The objective is to encourage the residents of the nearby communities and also the general public to actively take part in art on an everyday basis and to bring contemporary lifestyle aesthetics and creative cultures beyond the walls of the museum.

Continuing the experimental innovation and socialization visions of the Contemporary Community of Creative Design, during this year’s Lunar New Year, artist Yang-Tsung Hsu is invited to create a spatial installation, Soaring Little Dragon, as the premier exhibition for the Contemporary Community of Creative Design’s 2013 spring season. As a student, Hsu studied abroad in Italy and received a master’s degree in sculpture from Accademia di Belle Arti Brera di Milano. Upon returning to Taiwan, he has been awarded with Taipei Fine Arts Museum’s Modern Sculpture Biennial Award, with his artwork collected by the museum, and he has also been invited to exhibit his artworks in various major art museums in Taiwan and also at the Taipei Hanart Gallery. In the recent years, Hsu has begun integrating sculptural works with spatial installations, whereby he has boldly broken free from conventional materials, applications, techniques and concepts. He has created a new direction based on Taiwanese common culture, and when Taiwanese audiences see his works on display in public, a sense of familiarity mixed with pleasantly surprising elements is spurred.

Hsu’s Soaring Little Dragon spatial installation is comprised of common everyday plastic containers found in Taiwan. With innovation and unique craftsmanship, he has created an alternative rocky mountainous landscape along with adorable animal shapes in the forms of puppies, little dragons and birds. Additionally, he has also created aesthetically pleasing and practical lamps and chairs, and together, these various elements have come together to form a vivid and enchanting space for the festive year of the snake at the Contemporary Community of Creative Design. The dreamscape-like exhibition also brings reflections about our plastic civilization and consumer culture.

The visual impression of the Soaring Little Dragon: A Snake Year Landscape is also extended to connect with the exhibitions of Unexpected Scenery I at MOCA Plaza and also Have a Seat, Enjoy at the ticketing lobby. In conjunction, artists are also invited by MOCA Taipei to lead a garden light workshop with residents of the Guangneng Village, with the participants’ creations to be displayed publically at the Zhongshan Metro Mall near exit R9. The collective creative outcome by the community residents is based on the concept of “A Holiday a Day, with a Light Lit Everyday”, and is intended to form a diversely beautiful scenery for the city of Taipei.
